IMO 규정
  LRIT(Long Range Identification and Tracking) 규정은 국제항해에 종사하는 다음 선종의 선박에 적용됩니다.
1. 고속 여객선을 포함한 여객선
2. 총톤수 300톤 이상의 고속선을 포함한 화물선
3. 이동식 해상 구조물
총톤수 300톤 이상의 국제항해에 종사하는 모든 선박은 LRIT 규정에 적용됩니다.
A1, A2, A3 및 A4 해역을 운항하는 선박은 규정에 적합한 LRIT 단말기를 갖추어야 하며, (단, A1 해역만을 운항하고 AIS(Automatic Identification System)을 갖춘 선박은 LRIT 규정 적용에서 제외) 선박은 다음을 포함한 장거리 식별 및 추적정보를 Position Data Report의 형태로 전송하여야 합니다.
1. 선박의 식별 부호
2. 선박의 위치 (위도 및 경도)
3. 발송한 위치의 날짜 및 시간
LRIT 단말기는 Polling 요청에 대하여 반듯이 장거리 식별 및 추적정보(LRIT)정보를 바로 송출할 수 있어야 하며, 국토해양부에서 지정한 LRIT DC에 하루에 4번의 POSITION DATA REPORT를 송출할 수 있어야 합니다. 또한, 국토해양부의 별도 요청이 있는 경우에는 최대 하루에 96번(15분 간격)의 POSITION DATA REPORT를 송출할 수 있도록 원격에서 프로그래밍이 가능하여야 합니다.
